While serving as Social and Digital Media Fellow at Duke, I've focused in on visuals. Because we had a strong focus on Instagram growth I abided by the philosphy that having consistently beautiful content is the best way to ensure steady growth on that channel. This has included learning to photograph both beautiful "evergreen" content and capturing unique moments that spark our audience's imagination.
- • Through trial and error I have learned which images engage our users. While for every brand and institution it is different, we've found that high energy and spirited content works for Duke. Similarly, visuals that evoke nostalgia and relate to traditions and memories our students and alums have in common perform very well.
- • I've learned that a well planned editorial calendar can be invaluable in managing my schedule as well as working effectively with a graphic design intern to have the right content in time.
